Our Founder

Dr. Christopher Chen is the founder of ACRM (Advanced Centre for Reproductive Medicine), which is the successor of Christopher Chen Centre for Reproductive Medicine, founded in 1993. He currently serves as the Clinical Advisor of ACRM.

Since completing his obstetrics and gynaecology specialist degree at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) in London in 1969, Dr. Chen has made ground-breaking contributions to the field of reproductive medicine. Most notably, Dr Chen is credited for his pioneering work in IVF in Australia. In 1983, a year after he started IVF treatments in the country, he helped produce the world’s first IVF triplets. Three years later, he was the first to successfully freeze a human egg. This in turn led to egg banks being started around the world, a huge breakthrough in the reproductive medicine field. In 1998, he successfully produced IVF sextuplets in Singapore.

His academic advancements have seen him maintain his leadership in the field. Most recently in 2009, he graduated as a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Queensland in Australia.

Dr. Chen has dedicated his life to helping couples and women realize their dreams of starting a family, and this was practiced daily at his clinic, the Christopher Chen Centre for Reproductive Medicine, founded in 1993. To treat infertility issues and reproductive-related diseases, the clinic specialized in IVF, and laparoscopic surgery, a minimally invasive procedure that uses only very small incisions and surgical tools to minimize bleeding, lower infection risks, and speed up the recovery without sacrificing the quality of the outcome.

The Advanced Centre for Reproductive Medicine represents the evolution of Dr Chen’s expertise and philosophies, practiced through a handpicked team of fertility specialists. It is also located at Gleneagles Hospital, where Dr. Chen is also the Director of the Gleneagles IVF Centre.

Dr Chen was the former Reproductive Medicine Head at the Kadang Kerbau Maternity Hospital in Singapore. He is also a Professor at the University of Newcastle (Australia), Professor at the University of Queensland (Australia), Professor at Ricardo Palma University (Peru), and an Honorary Professor at Sri Ramachandra University (India).

Recognized for his expertise and enormous contributions to his field of expertise, Dr. Chen has been awarded the prestigious Sir William Blair-Bell Memorial Lectureship, 2008 Spirit of Enterprise Award in Singapore, Key to the City of Manila, Philippines (2010), and Harvest of Endurance Scroll by the National Museum of Australia in Canberra. He also received the Vandemataram Award from the government of India. In addition, he is a Researcher and Writer of several scientific papers published in highly esteemed medical journals such as Lancet, as well as a notable Speaker in both local and international conferences.
