Assisted Reproduction Unit

The Assisted Reproduction Unit at ACRM was designed and built in 2017, to provide a one-stop, unique and seamless IVF treatment space for patients at the clinic.

The purpose-built IVF laboratory and operating theatre was customised to have the two rooms located adjacent to each other. This unique cleanroom facility was constructed using modular cleanroom panels and equipped with a cleanroom air-conditioning system with HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) and carbon filters to provide an environment with low particle counts and zero VOC (volatile organic compounds – substances that affect embryo quality). Here, your complete IVF treatment procedure is safely and efficiently performed, from egg retrieval, insemination, embryo culture, cryopreservation and storage, and concluding with the transfer of good quality embryos.

Patients may not be aware, but “there is no IVF program without the IVF laboratory – the engine room of the program”. The IVF laboratory is comprehensively equipped with well-suited equipment to provide a stable, stress-free environment for your eggs and embryos to grow while in culture. The use of better technologies and protocols optimize culture conditions, safety and security of your precious eggs and embryos.

ACRM’s IVF laboratory is one of the few IVF centres in Singapore to offer Time-Lapse embryo imaging technology (TL). As incubators are the most important piece of equipment in the laboratory, the TL incubator provides a stable embryo culture environment and minimises embryo stress through excessive embryo handling while monitoring embryo development. This is done through the in-built camera (imaging system) which provides continuous monitoring and developmental analysis of cultured embryos.

TL technology allows the embryologist to review all embryo growth images and select embryos with higher potential to achieve a pregnancy, leading to raised live-birth rates and shorter time for you to achieve a pregnancy.

ACRM, in collaboration with the Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis Centre at National University Hospital Singapore, also offers Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) services for patients with known genetic conditions only. Our first PGD case in 2014 conceived and delivered a healthy baby girl in January 2015.
