ACRM’s International IVF programme

Increasingly people are choosing to have IVF treatment abroad and Singapore always been associated with good standards of healthcare and high quality of IVF treatment.

Choose the fertility specialists at ACRM for our successful assisted reproduction technology (ART) programme such as in vitro fertilisation (IVF) and Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) if you seek to give yourself the best chance of being a parent. ACRM’s fertility specialists, nurses, embryologists and administrative staff will hand-hold you through your personalized treatment plan at our one-stop IVF centre.

ACRM’s International IVF programme provides expertise and coordination between your doctor in your country and ACRM’s fertility specialist to tailor your IVF programme and support you in your country and continued treatment in Singapore.

Steps in the International IVF programme

A. If you have consulted a gynaecologist in your country, the following procedure will be taken to proceed with your treatment.

You may have to plan 3 to 4 weeks in Singapore for this treatment cycle to be completed.  

You must provide your passports and marriage certificate (copy of attested translation in English)

  1.  At your home country – Consult your local gynaecologist, who will get in touch with ACRM fertility specialists. They will communicate their findings on their diagnosis to ACRM specialists, who may recommend additional tests to confirm the diagnosis.
  • You and your husband will sign ACRM’s IVF Consent form, and your gynaecologist will sign on the last page. This consent form will be scanned and sent to ACRM.
  1.  1st visit (on day 2 or 3 of menstrual cycle) at ACRM, Singapore
  •  Initial consultation, ultrasound scan and preliminary investigations. IMPORTANT: Submit copies of your passports and marriage certificate
  • You and your husband will be counselled by the fertility nurse on the IVF treatment and financial issues. Both of you will sign ACRM’s IVF Consent form, and your fertility specialist will sign on the last page. 
  • Perform serology tests required by MOH (Ministry of Health, Singapore), prior to starting IVF treatment. If all blood tests results are acceptable, IVF treatment will commence.
  • You will be taught self-administration of hormonal injections
  1. 2nd visit (Follicular growth monitoring after 4 to 5 days)

Ultrasound scan to monitor growth of follicles, and additional injections to prevent ovulation

  1.  3rd visit (Follicular growth monitoring prior to final injection)
  •  Ultrasound scan to monitor growth of follicles (if required). Egg retrieval will take place 34 to 36 hours after final injection
  1.  4th visit (Egg retrieval day)
  • Wife will undergo egg retrieval; husband will produce semen sample
  1.  5th visit (Embryo Transfer on days 3 or 5)
  •  If a fresh embryo transfer has been planned, you will come to ACRM on days 3 (or 5) for the transfer of 1 (or 2) embryos into your uterus.
  • Extra good quality embryo(s) will be frozen for future pregnancy attempts.
  • If a fresh ET was not performed and all embryos were frozen, ACRM fertility specialist will plan a frozen embryo transfer (FET) cycle with you.
  1.  At your home country (or in Singapore)
  • ACRM’s fertility nurse will continue to provide support and care. ACRM’s fertility specialist will provide a letter with details of your IVF treatment at ACRM for your local gynaecologist/fertility specialist.  
  • 14 days after ET, perform bHCG pregnancy test to determine if you are pregnant and talk to ACRM fertility specialist again
  • If you did not do a fresh ET or was not pregnant in your previous IVF cycle, ACRM fertility specialist will coordinate with your local gynaecologist/fertility specialist to commence your FET cycle

B. If you have consulted a fertility specialist in your country, who is able to co-manage with ACRM’s fertility specialist on your IVF treatment, you will require to spend only 8 to 12 days in Singapore.

The following procedure will be taken to proceed with your treatment:

  1. At your home country – Your IVF treatment plan has been planned and coordinated by your local IVF specialist and your selected ACRM’s fertility specialist.
  • Initial consultation, ultrasound scan and preliminary investigations. IMPORTANT: Submit copies of your passports and marriage certificate
  • Perform serology tests required by MOH (Ministry of Health, Singapore), prior to starting IVF treatment. If all blood tests results are acceptable, IVF treatment will commence.
  • You and your husband will sign ACRM’s IVF Consent form, and your gynaecologist will sign on the last page. The consent form will be scanned and sent to ACRM.
  • Your local fertility specialist will supervise your hormonal stimulation for the IVF cycle. You may be taught self-administration of hormonal injections (if required)
  1.  1st visit (Follicular growth monitoring after 7 to 8 days) at ACRM, Singapore
  • This will be your first consultation with your ACRM fertility specialist. Ultrasound scan to monitor growth of follicles
  • Repeat serology tests [required by MOH (Ministry of Health, Singapore)], at least 2 days prior to final injection to effect maturation of eggs
  • You and your husband will be counselled by the fertility nurse on the IVF treatment and financial issues. Both of you will sign ACRM’s IVF Consent form, and your fertility specialist will sign on the last page. 
  1. 2nd visit (Follicular growth monitoring prior to final injection)
  • Ultrasound scan to monitor growth of follicles (if required). If all blood tests results are acceptable, plan for final injection. Egg retrieval will take place 34 to 36 hours after final injection
  1.  Continue steps A5 to A7 above.

Visa application

If you require a visa to visit Singapore, ACRM’s fertility nurse will assist you to apply for the visa.

Travel and Accommodation

If you require travel, accommodation arrangements and attractions advice in Singapore, we will be able to assist you. Make sure that your accommodation has access to a refrigerator as some medication will need refrigeration.
